WEST END POLICIES

CORE VALUE GUIDELINES

  • Demonstrate RESPECT and follow all rules and policies.
  • Demonstrate HONESTY and inform our staff if the equipment is broken or in need of repair.
  • Demonstrate RESPONSIBILITY and keep our Y clean by throwing away all garbage and keeping hallways and other areas free of clutter.
  • Demonstrate a CARING attitude and use language appropriate for all ages.
  • Demonstrate RESPONSIBILITY and use equipment properly.
  • Demonstrate RESPECT towards other people and their property.
  • Demonstrate RESPONSIBILITY and lock up all valuables. Quarter lockers are available if needed.

AGE POLICIES

IN THE BUILDING

  • Children 5 and under need a parent/ guardian to stay on-site even when they are participating in YMCA programs unless otherwise stated (ex. Licensed Child Care, Camp). When not participating in a YMCA program, they need to be supervised by an adult in the facility at all times.
  • Children under age 10 need to be supervised by an adult in the facility at all times unless they are participating in a YMCA program. 
  • Monday- Thursday during the school year, individuals under the age of 16 must leave the facility by 9:30 pm unless they have an adult in the facility.

IN THE WELLNESS CENTER

AGE RESTRICTIONS
  • Age 10 -11: May workout with an adult after successful completion of the
YOUTH ORIENTATION WITH A WELLNESS COACH 
  • Age 12-15: May use the Wellness Center unaccompanied after successful completion of the Teen Orientation with a Wellness Coach.
  • Ages 16+: Smart Start program is suggested to all. Please follow all guidelines and policies.

IN POOL

AGE GUIDELINES
  • Age 5 and under: Adult must be in the water within arm’s reach at all times
  • Ages 6-9: Must be accompanied by an adult in the water. After passing the swim test, an adult must remain in the pool area.
  • Ages 10-13: Allowed only in the shallow water until swim test is passed.
SWIM TEST POLICY
  • Age 13 and under: must pass a safety swim test to swim in the deep area. Lifeguards, at their discretion, can test others.

IN CHILD WATCH

  • Child Watch is available for children 12 weeks to 10 years.

SEX OFFENDER SCREENING

The YMCA reserves the right to deny access or membership to any person who has been accused or convicted of any crime involving sexual abuse, is or has been a registered sex offender, has ever been convicted of any offense relating to the use, sale, possession, or transportation of narcotics or habit-forming and/or dangerous drugs, or is presently or habitually under the influence of dangerous drugs or chemicals, narcotics, or intoxicating beverages. The YMCA conducts regular sex offender screenings on all members, participants, and guests.
