HAVE AN IMPACT...SUPPORT THE LAKE COUNTY Y!

December 4, 2020

One thing 2020 has certainly done for us at the Y - it has made us extremely grateful for the many friends who joined us through their generous giving. It has been a silver lining in an otherwise very difficult year. THANK YOU!

Did you know there are several tax-smart strategies to make your year-end charitable gift to the Lake County YMCA? Please consider one of the following ways by December 31 to receive tax benefits for 2020.

For most taxpayers, up to $300 in donations to a charity are deductible in 2020! On March 27, 2020, Congress enacted the CARES Act, which created a $300 charitable deduction for Americans who do not itemize their taxes. Your tax advisor is the best source for this information should you wish to verify that you qualify.

APPRECIATED SECURITIES

Gifts of securities such as stocks and mutual funds entitle you to an income tax charitable deduction equal to their fair market value. On top of your deduction, you avoid capital gains tax on the securities that you contribute.

GIFT FROM YOUR IRA

If you are 70 1⁄2 or older, you can make a tax-free gift of up to $100,000 to the Lake County YMCA directly from your IRA account. Better yet, your gift is not included in taxable income from your IRA.

SUGGEST A GRANT TO THE LAKE COUNTY YMCA

Make a gift through your existing Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to the Lake County Y. Simply contact your fund administrator to request a distribution or beneficiary form or download the appropriate form(s) from your administrator’s website.

We know that your top priority is the health and financial well-being of your family and loved ones. For inquiries about estate gifts and other planned gifts, please contact:
