The Lake County YMCA is taking precautions to slow the spread of the new strain of coronavirus regionally, and we are aware of the fact that healthy young people generally are not at high risk for serious complications. We are also aware that those who are asymptomatic and those who experience only mild symptoms can still spread the virus to others who may be at greater risk. Because the extent of the coronavirus in Northeast Ohio is unknown at this time, we believe that the best course of action is to cancel events that bring large numbers of people, particularly older adults and those who may have compromised immune systems, into close proximity. For that reason, we are restricting large-group public activities in all Lake County YMCA buildings.

The following events will be canceled this weekend with a potential to reschedule in the future:

  • The Spring Craft Fair at the Outdoor YMCA Saturday, March 14, 2020
  • West End YMCA at Union Village Wrestling Banquet on Friday, March 13, 2020
  • The Central YMCA Synchronized Swimming Showcase Friday- Sunday, March 13-15, 2020
  • The Central YMCA Y Winners Basketball League Saturday, March 14, 2020

For additional information, please see the CDC Website or the Lake County General Health District Website. We will continue to monitor this situation with guidance from federal, state and local agencies.

Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
