January 17, 2020

In December 2019 the Lake County YMCA asked our members to drop off jars of peanut butter (and non-nut butter) and jelly. Our goal was simple; to collect as much peanut butter (and non-butters) and jelly to distribute to local food banks and food pantries in January 2020.

Starting December 1 through December 31st, 2019 Lake County YMCA was able to collect 2,267  jars of Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Central Y in Painesville, took the lead by collecting 1036 (+7 jars over last year), followed by West End Y in Willoughby with 1019 (+259 over last year) and East End Y in Madison collected 212.

The largest portion of the peanut butter and jelly went to End 68 Hours of Hunger: which a year ago served 300+ children is now serving over 500+ every weekend.

The Central Y distributed jars to St. Mary's, St. Gabe's and End 68 Hours of Hunger. The East End Y distributed jars Madison Ministerial Association & Madison Food Bank.  And the West End Y distributed jars End 68 hours of Hunger, McKinley Community Center, St. Noel, Vineyard Food Bank & Taft Senior Center

Thank you once again for all those who donated, we are so proud of our members and our community for decreasing hunger in Lake County one jar at a time.
