SIGN UP FOR THE IRONMAN CHALLENGE TODAY!

Some Lake County YMCA members will actually complete the distances of an Ironman Triathlon; 26.2 mile run, 112 miles of biking and a 2 mile swim. There is an IRONMAN CATEGORY for EVERYONE. Pick the appropriate level of the IRONMAN Challenge for you. Then set your finishing goal; one/two weeks=Gold, three/four weeks=Silver, five/six weeks=Bronze. Push your limits! Tally your own distances. Pull your tally sheet when you are done and place in the front of the binder!

CHALLENGE LEVELS OF THE IRONMAN

  • TRUE IRONMAN 
    Running-Total distance must be done jogging or running.
    Biking- Total distance must be done on an upright stationary bike or outdoors.
    Swimming-Total distance must be done swimming laps.
  • MODIFIED IRONMAN 
    Running-Walking, jogging or running may be counted toward the total distance.
    Biking-Total distance must be done on an upright or recumbent stationary bike or outdoors. 
    Swimming-Total distance may be covered swimming laps, using fins, kickboards or other floatation devices.
  • NOVICE IRONMAN 
    Running-Jogging, walking or cardio classes (45min class=3 miles) toward total distance.
    Biking-Total distance must be done on an upright or recumbent bike or outdoors.
    Swimming-Total distance may be covered swimming or walking laps, using floatation devices or on the rowing machine. (4,000 meters = 1 mile)
  • SPRINT IRONMAN 
    Activities are the same as the NOVICE and the distances are shorter:
    Running-15 miles Biking-50 miles 
    Swimming-1 mile

Each IRONMAN participant will receive a long sleeve T-shirt ONLY AFTER COMPLETING HIS/HER IRONMAN CHALLENGE. Tally sheets are available at the Welcome Center. Record your distances, TALLY your distances and PULL your sheet when you complete your Y IRONMAN CHALLENGE, place it in the binder pocket. All on the honor system, of course!
