Day Camp Coordinator

Organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA programs. Provides direct supervision of staff and children in a seasonal day camp.  


The Lake County YMCA is seeking a Day Camp Coordinator for the 2019 summer camp season. The job description and qualifications are listed below.   1. Supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  2. Trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Assists Program Director/ Executive with reviews and evaluating staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
  3. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information including welcome letters, rosters, and report cards.
  4. Adjusts staff schedule and group sizes as needed.
  5. With guidance from the Program Director, develops, monitors, and works within the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  6. Steps in to cover groups on an as-needed basis.
  7. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
  1. High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  2. Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid.
  3. One to two years related experience preferred.
  4. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
