Description:

Provides direct supervision of a group of children.  Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

OPPORTUNITY:

The Lake County YMCA is seeking childcare staff for school-age childcare department at the Perry Child Care Center for the 2019-20 school year. This is a part-time, non-exempt position that will work Monday- Friday 6:30-8: 45am and 2-5:30pm during the school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Supervises a group of children and actively engages in activities with children.
  2. Participates in planning and implementing program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
  3. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
  4. Attends staff meetings and trainings.
  5. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
  6. Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. At least 18 years of age with a high school diploma.
  2. Previous experience working with children preferred.
  3. Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: crafts, songs/music, sports, recreational games, etc…
  4. CPR, First Aid, AED certification training within 90 days of hire date.
  5. Complete ODJFS Child Care Staff Orientation within 30 days.
  6. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
