The Lake County YMCA is seeking a building monitor for the West End YMCA in Willoughby. This is a part time, non-exempt position. The following shifts are currently available:

Evenings and Weekends, Approximately 11-20 Hours Per Week

  1. Monitors building and assists with member needs.
  2. Provides help to Front Desk and Service Center personnel showing perspective and new members around the building.
  3. Maintains a safe and clean environment.
  4. Ensures Y is a safe environment for all members and program participants.
  5. Engages with all members and reinforces safety and membership policies as needed.
  6. Continuously walks through building ensuring all program areas are problem-free.
  7. Secures building and YMCA property during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  8. Miscellaneous housekeeping activities as needed.
  9. May be called to assist in the event of an emergency.
  10. May set up furniture for events. May clean sidewalks during inclement weather.


  1. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  2. Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
  3. Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED, and First Aid.
  4. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  6. Previous customer service, sales or related experience.


  1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
  2. Frequently required to stand and walk.
