The Lake County YMCA is seeking a wellness coach for the Central YMCA in Painesville. This is a part time, non-exempt position able to work weekends and sub occassionally during the week.

  1. Interact with new and existing members to help them in achieve their health and well-being goals.
  2. Create a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities and instruct on the usage of Wellness Center equipment in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement. 
  3. Coaches members in support of their desired behavior change. Regularly checks on members’ progress in meeting personal and program goals.
  4. Answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  5. Observes and adjusts approach to support all participants’ capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture. Creates a safe environment where all individuals feel welcomed and respected.
  6. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA. Identifies and celebrates the successes of members and program participants.
  7. May conduct post-enrollment interviews to understand new members’ definition of well-being, personal goals, cultural background, healthcare needs, diverse abilities and interests and develops plans to meet their individual needs.
  8. Maintains and cleans equipment according to the schedule or as requested by supervisor.
  9. Handles and resolves incidents and hazardous conditions and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.


  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  3. Previous customer service or related experience. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.


  • Light work. Expecting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to raise voice in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

Ability to:

  1. Stand, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crouching frequently throughout the work shift.
  2. Walk throughout the facility and climb stairs occasionally.
  3. Have visual acuity to determine safety, security and assessment of participant’s movements.
  4. Receive detailed information through sound as well as express through spoken word.
