Make Classroom Lessons Come Alive In Nature

The YMCA's Environmental Education site is situated along 1.5 miles of the wild and scenic Grand River corridor. Pristine woods, trails, meadows, and a variety of aquatic areas provide opportunities for students to work toward school academic standards in the reality of the natural world. After 22 years of environmental program development, our staff continues to inspire in children a sense of natural curiosity and life-long appreciation of nature.

Programs offered between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

1:14 staff/student ratio

Lesson plans to accommodate academic content standards

Variety of natural habitat study sites

Hiking and outdoor participation involved in all programs

Field microscopes, lenses, and other study tools provided

Alternate weather studies on stand-by

Well-trained, nature-loving, child-oriented paid staff

YMCA values state everybody plays regardless of ability. We do our best to balance the teams. There are no league standings, no all-stars or championships. Our focus is on building a community among the players that make sports fun and by stressing cooperation over competition, fair play over winning at any cost, topping one’s own best performance over topping others, and developing strong character over developing the next superstar.
