FAQ Fundraising
I already pay membership dues; why should I give money to the YMCA?
Your membership dues cover only the costs of operating our facilities. Your contribution to the Strong Kids Campaign allows people that otherwise could not afford our programs and services to have the same great experiences as our other members and their families.
Does the YMCA receive funds from the United Way?
The YMCA and the United Way have a long standing relationship. The United Way donations help fund programming at the Y.
I gave to the YMCA last year, why are you asking me to contribute again this year?
The Lake County YMCA runs an annual Strong Kids Campaign to ensure that children and adults can continue to participate in the programs they need and enjoy from year to year.
Are donations to the YMCA tax deductible?
Yes. Contributions to the Strong Kids Campaign, in-kind gifts, and general donations for other purposes are tax-deductible. The YMCA is recognized as an IRS 501(c)3 charity. Fees paid for membership dues or program enrollment are not tax deductible.
